The Big Leap

Posted · Add Comment

You’ve taken a big leap this year and done something that is going to improve your life.

It feels so good!

Then your old friend resistance comes to visit and you wonder how you ever thought this change was a good idea.

Anytime we are moving outside our comfy zone, we feel resistance.

Resistance shows up as fear, self-doubt and negative self-talk.

Resistance can also appear as a string of bad luck. Our car breaks down, we get sick, we fight with our spouses, our kids start acting up, we have problems at work, we get an unexpected bill in the mail – we seem to get hit with one challenge after another.

This is just resistance creating chaos in an attempt to self-sabotage and keep everything just the way it is.

Resistance will do anything to stop you from heading into the scary unknown.

When you are working hard to make positive changes, it can get worse before it gets better.

A great example of this is when you are taking on a new exercise program or trying to lose weight. You can’t seem to be consistent. You constantly fall off the wagon and backslide. You start to question yourself.

“Maybe I can’t do this? It’s too hard.   I’ve messed up so many times today that I might as well just throw in the towel and enjoy my night”.

This is the little voice of resistance.

Remember, you have created strong habits and routines that are not happy about being replaced. These habits feel good, even though they may be bad for you.

When resistance comes knocking, don’t take it as a sign to stop, slow down or go in a different direction. Take is as a sign that you are on the right track.

Just pick yourself up, dust yourself off and try again. Keep going no matter what happens.

When you keep moving through resistance, it transforms to power, confidence and strength.

Resistance becomes Resilience

When you keep getting up after life knocks you down, you tap into a limitless power that carries you through to your goals.

You build resilience. Things become easier and you become stronger.

Growth is not easy. It takes something to go after your goals and reach for the stars.

If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always gotten.

Make this year different.

Adopt an attitude of extreme faith and don’t let anything stop you.

Trust that you are on the right path.

YOU GOT THIS!
