Raise Your Standards

Yesterday, I had someone come over to do some work at my house.  He was a successful guy, married with kids.  We started talking (as I always seem to do with everyone) and it seemed that everything out of his mouth was a testimony as to why he didn’t have what he wanted in life.  He had all the right answers and it made sense, however, he was still in the same place, not really off-the charts happy.

He was doing all the right things but the problem was not what he was doing, it was between his ears.  His standards were too low.  He could not figure out how to get from here to there, so he just settled and had no results, but alot of reasons.

So,  how do you get from where you are now to where you want to be?  How do you find the strength and the power to overcome any challenge to rise to the top?  You have to set a higher standard.

We all want to go to the next level, to achieve our goals and live our dreams, but we often settle for what is comfortable and easy.

Going after what you want is tough.  You have to do things you have never done.  You have to fight your demons and break down your walls.  You have to change your  ways and shake up your life.  It’s uncomfortable.

When we get uncomfortable, we pull back.   We settle for something other than what we wanted and convince ourselves that it’s ok.

When you settle and move back into your comfort zone, you are giving up.   Results take effort.  But the prize for the effort is the life of your dreams.

Tell yourself that you will no longer settle for a life that is anything other than extraordinary.

What you allow will continue, so set your boundaries.  Draw the line.  Upgrade your life.

You are the author.  You can keep reading the same story over and over or you can create a new one.   Only you have the power to change yourself.

How many “shoulds” do you have in your life right now?
I should eat healthy
I should work out more
I should stop smoking
I should spend more time with my family
I should save more money

Turn the shoulds into WILLS.   Create the willingness to do what it takes to get what you want.  Have the willpower to stick with it when you want to give in and you will succeed.

Right now, you are settling somewhere in your life.   How long will you settle?   What is it costing you?  If you took action and made the change, what would be available to you?

If you are waiting for the perfect time, it will never come.  If you are waiting for a sign, this is it.

Wake up.  Be bold.  Go for it…. Do the things you don’t want to do.   Only then will you have a breakthrough.

Get going…. your life is waiting.

Love and Blessings,

Carrie
