Self-doubt is a natural part of being human. But if you allow it to consume you, it can rob you of fulfillment and happiness.
In order to be successful in life, you have to believe in yourself. You also need faith and hope for the future. This magic combination of belief, faith and hope will carry you through the darkest of times. You will be able to achieve your goals and live your dreams.
But too many times, we allow self-doubt to paralyze us. We stop believing, we lose trust and allow the negative thoughts to run wild.
This can feel uncontrollable, but it’s not. You can learn how to bounce back to that confident place without missing a beat.
Self-doubt comes from past experience. You fail, make a mistake, get hurt or disappointed. Then you make that experience mean something about you. You take it personal.
You decide you are not smart enough, pretty enough, thin enough, talented enough, strong enough or rich enough.
Clearly, something is just not right.
This makes you second-guess your talents, strengths and abilities. You become insecure. You lose your mojo!
Although these beliefs are not the truth, they are stored in your subconscious mind and pop up anytime you have a similar experience.
The first step in conquering self-doubt is to understand what purpose it serves in our lives.
Sometimes self-doubt is actually good for us. It can serve as a measuring stick to help us determine if we are on the right track or making the right decisions.
Doubt can also be that whispering voice of our intuition.
Doubt can also serve as a motivator to help us work harder and push us higher. I can’t count the number of times I have said to myself, “I don’t know if I can do it… Yes I can do it and I will.”
Here are a couple of strategies I use to help me release self-doubt and move into self confidence…quickly!
Confidence Bank
Your confidence bank is a place where all your good memories are stored. These are the times you overcame obstacles and succeeded.
When you think back to these times now, you actually feel the same good feelings that you felt back then. This allows you to access your confident state in the present moment.
In other words, it reminds you who you are and what you are capable of. By accessing these memories, you tap into your power and magnify your strength.
Light Switch Strategy
It’s ok to bounce back and forth between confidence and doubt. But don’t stay in doubt for too long.
When the light goes off and you feel doubt, immediately turn it back on. Start thinking positive thoughts. Don’t wallow in the doubt and take yourself deeper into the dark.
Make a commitment today to conquer self-doubt and live in bold confidence. Choose to believe in yourself and have hope for the future. Operate from faith, not fear. When you feel doubt, remember how far you have come. Remember all the challenges you have faced and the victories you have won. Remember all the obstacles you have overcome.
And don’t ever forget just how powerful you are!
